Moving from Hadoop to Spark

Abstract

Spark has been getting a lot of attention lately. Is Spark replacing Hadoop? If you are already running Hadoop should you think about moving to Spark?
 
In this session, we will go over relative strengths and weaknesses of of both Spark and Hadoop. And we will analyze some use cases.
 
We will also highlight a use case when we moved from Hadoop to Spark entirely.

Profile

Sujee Maniyam is a seasoned Big Data practitioner.  He  teaches and consults in Big Data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, NoSQL and Cloud).  He is an open source contributor and author of 'Hadoop illuminated' (an open-source book on Hadoop) and 'HBase Design Patterns'.  Sujee is a frequent speaker at various conferences and meetups.  He also advises and mentors various firms.
