ChatGPT is getting a lot more visual, with the launch of a new interface Posted on : Oct 09 - 2026
ChatGPT is set to become more visual with a new feature called Intelligent UI, introduced by OpenAI alongside its new GPT-6 model. The redesigned interface will bring more visuals into conversations, making responses more engaging and easier to understand.
Many of these visuals will be interactive, going beyond static images to include clickable buttons, task-specific calculators, interactive charts, editable graphs, and other elements users can explore and manipulate directly.
OpenAI says the primary goal is to make learning complex topics easier. The new interface could also make ChatGPT more accessible and useful for a wider range of everyday tasks.
During a demonstration for journalists, OpenAI showcased how Intelligent UI can quickly generate diagrams and visual explanations to help users understand abstract concepts.
Aarush Selvan, a product manager at OpenAI, explained that although ChatGPT has traditionally been text-focused, the most helpful responses to tasks such as planning recipes, organizing trips, and learning new subjects often require more than words alone.
For example, a college student exploring how airplane wings generate lift could ask ChatGPT to explain the concept. The chatbot would then create diagrams illustrating how airflow helps an aircraft stay airborne.
Other demonstrations included recipe visuals, diagrams explaining bicycle mechanics, maps for multi-day hiking trips, and personalized savings calculators.
Intelligent UI will also be customizable. Users who prefer text-based answers will be able to reduce the number of visuals appearing in their conversations.
OpenAI plans to roll out the feature globally alongside GPT-6 for Pro, Plus, Business, and Enterprise subscribers, with availability for Free and lower-cost Go users beginning Thursday.
The update signals a shift toward a more interactive ChatGPT experience, where users can not only read answers but also explore concepts, work with data, and complete everyday tasks directly within the conversation.
