Destro AI’s secret sauce is getting robots and humans on the same page Posted on : Oct 01 - 2026

What if the best way to deploy robots is not to build robots at all?

That’s the approach taken by Destro, a robotics startup that emerged from stealth with an $8 million seed round.

Rather than developing its own robot hardware, Destro has built an AI intelligence and orchestration layer designed to make robots more effective in logistics environments. Its software coordinates robots, human workers, carts, and trucks as a single workflow.

The company’s Vision operating system uses vision-language-action models to interpret visual information and instructions, while its Mothership platform orchestrates the overall operation.

Destro began with a pilot at a Yusen Logistics facility in the Pacific Northwest, using three cart-moving robots from Miva Robotics. As workers unload goods and organize them into carts, Destro’s system identifies completed loads and directs robots to move them to the right destinations.

The approach helped Destro secure an expanded deployment of 26 robots, along with a new 17-robot pilot at another Yusen facility in Southern California.

Founder Manthan Pawar argues that Destro’s advantage comes from focusing less on building robots and more on solving the operational problems around deploying them.

The startup plans to replicate its cross-docking workflow across thousands of warehouses, betting that the biggest opportunity in robotics may lie not in building the machines themselves, but in the AI software layer that coordinates humans, robots, and entire workflows.

As robotics and AI continue to converge, Destro is taking a different bet: the future of automation may depend as much on orchestrating robots as on building them.
