Anthropic has launched Claude Fable 5, the first public version of its powerful Mythos AI model. While Fable 5 delivers advanced capabilities in software engineering, knowledge work, and vision, it includes built-in safety guardrails, automatically deferring to Claude Opus 4.8 for high-risk domains such as cybersecurity, biology, and chemistry.

Previously limited to select partners, Mythos technology is now becoming more broadly available through Anthropic’s API and Enterprise offerings. Anthropic says Fable 5 was extensively tested against jailbreak attempts and introduces new security measures, including mandatory 30-day traffic retention to help detect emerging threats.

Early users report strong performance in analytics, coding, UI design, and autonomous workflows, though its premium pricing reflects the model's advanced capabilities. As frontier AI systems continue to evolve, Anthropic is positioning safety and controlled deployment as core parts of its strategy.
