Amazon Introduces Always-On AI Agent to Support Sellers
Amazon announced Wednesday the launch of an always-on AI agent designed to help third-party sellers manage and grow their businesses. The update enhances Seller Assistant, Amazon’s AI-powered tool, which can now proactively handle tasks on behalf of sellers while keeping them in control.
“Our agentic AI capabilities are built to work seamlessly across the selling journey,” Amazon said in a press release. “Sellers can transition from doing everything themselves to collaborating with an intelligent assistant that works proactively around the clock. Seller Assistant will cover routine operations as well as strategic decisions, enabling sellers to focus on innovation and growth.”
The upgraded Seller Assistant can monitor account health, track inventory, flag potential compliance issues, and even suggest business strategies. For instance, when reviewing inventory, it can identify slow-moving products, recommend pricing adjustments, or suggest removal before long-term storage fees apply. It also analyzes demand patterns to guide shipment planning.
Beyond operations, Seller Assistant will automatically ensure products meet regulatory and compliance requirements across different markets. It continuously flags risks such as product safety issues or outdated listings.
Amazon is also extending its agentic AI into advertising, allowing sellers to generate ad campaigns through conversational prompts. This follows other recent AI tools Amazon has launched, including a video ad generator and a generative AI solution for improving product listings.
The move comes as tech giants race to explore agent-driven commerce, where AI agents can initiate transactions or negotiate deals. Just a day earlier, Google unveiled a new payments protocol for agent-based transactions, highlighting growing industry momentum in this space.
