Nvidia reportedly plans to launch a new AI chip tailored for the Chinese market Posted on : Jul 11 - 2025
Nvidia is reportedly set to launch an AI chip tailored for China, despite ongoing U.S. export restrictions.
According to the Financial Times, the chip could debut as early as September and will be based on Nvidia’s Blackwell RTX Pro 6000 processor—already adapted to comply with current AI chip rules. The version planned for China will reportedly lack high-bandwidth memory and NVLink, Nvidia’s proprietary high-speed communication interface, which are standard in its more advanced AI chips.
Last month, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said the company would stop factoring China into its revenue and profit forecasts. That decision, however, may not last long.
Nvidia declined to comment on the report.
A spokesperson added: “With the current export controls, we are effectively out of the China datacenter market, which is now served by competitors like Huawei. China has one of the world’s largest populations of developers, building open-source foundation models and non-military applications used globally. While security is critical, every one of those applications should ideally run best on the U.S. AI stack.”
