2024 Was Huge for AI. 2025 Is Keeping Pace.
 
Last year marked a breakout moment for the AI industry in the U.S. and globally. According to TechCrunch’s count, 49 AI startups raised funding rounds of $100 million or more in 2024. Of those, three companies landed multiple mega-rounds, and seven closed billion-dollar raises.
 
So how does 2025 stack up so far?
 
We’re only halfway through the year, but the momentum is clearly holding. In fact, Q1 2025 saw more U.S.-based AI mega-rounds than the same period last year—and several billion-dollar rounds have already closed.
 
Below is a month-by-month breakdown of all U.S.-based AI startups that have raised $100 million or more in 2025 so far:
 
June
  • Glean raised a $150M Series F at a $7.25B valuation, led by Wellington Management.
  • Anysphere, maker of Cursor, secured a massive $900M Series C at a nearly $10B valuation. Thrive Capital led the round.
 
May
  • Snorkel AI announced a $100M Series D at a $1.3B valuation, led by Addition.
  • LMArena, an AI benchmarking platform, raised a $100M seed round at a $600M valuation.
  • TensorWave, an AI infrastructure company, closed a $100M Series A led by Magnetar Capital and AMD Ventures.
 
April
  • SandboxAQ secured $450M in a Series E at a $5.7B valuation, with participation from Nvidia and Google.
  • Runway raised $308M in Series D funding at a $3B valuation, led by General Atlantic.
 
March
  • OpenAI shattered records with a $40B round at a $300B valuation, led by SoftBank.
  • Nexthop AI closed a $110M Series A led by Lightspeed.
  • Insilico Medicine raised $110M in a Series E to fuel its AI drug discovery platform, reaching a $1B valuation.
  • Celestial AI secured $250M in a Series C at a $2.5B valuation.
  • Lila Sciences raised a $200M seed round to develop its “science superintelligence” platform.
  • Reflection.AI, building autonomous AI systems, raised $130M in Series A at a $580M valuation.
  • Turing, an AI coding startup, raised $111M in a Series E at a $2.2B valuation.
  • Shield AI, focused on defense, raised $240M in a Series F at a $5.3B valuation.
  • Anthropic raised $3.5B in a Series E at a $61.5B valuation.
 
February
  • Together AI raised $305M in Series B at a $3.3B valuation, co-led by Prosperity7 and General Catalyst.
  • Lambda raised $480M in Series D at a $2.5B valuation.
  • Abridge closed a $250M Series D, valuing the company at $2.75B.
  • Eudia, an AI legal tech company, raised $105M in Series A.
  • EnCharge AI, a hardware startup, raised a $100M Series B.
  • Harvey, another AI legal tech firm, raised $300M in Series D at a $3B valuation.
 
January
  • ElevenLabs raised $180M in Series C at a $3B+ valuation, co-led by ICONIQ and Andreessen Horowitz.
  • Hippocratic AI raised $141M in Series B at a $1.6B+ valuation, led by Kleiner Perkins.
