As AI Agents Transform the Web, Google Expands Gemini and Search Integration With More Apps. Posted on : Oct 28 - 2026
Google has launched its Connected Apps Platform, making it easier for businesses and developers to integrate their services with Google Search and Gemini AI.
Connected apps allow users to link third-party services and perform tasks directly through AI, such as creating designs in Canva or building playlists with YouTube Music. The goal is to let people access their favorite services through AI assistants instead of opening individual apps.
The new platform enables developers to build, test, and submit apps for Google Search, Gemini, or both. Developers can connect their services using Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers or Android AppFunctions APIs, then monitor performance metrics such as traffic, response times, and errors.
Google already supports more than 50 connected apps in Gemini, including services from Adobe, Peloton, and Experian. These integrations are expected to expand to Google Search over the coming weeks, with additional partners such as Calm joining the initiative.
Currently, the platform is in public preview for U.S. developers who join the waitlist.
Why it matters: This move could accelerate the growth of the agentic web, where users rely on AI assistants to discover services and complete tasks, creating new opportunities for businesses to reach customers directly through AI.
