Highly Scalable and Highly Available Fast Diskless NoSql Databases

Abstract

NoSql Databases today provide an enriching experience with High Scalability, High Availability, Cross Data Center replication, Querying and Indexing capabilities and many more. Though, sometimes in the industry they are not used as a primary database, rather used as a distributed cache, but all the enriching features are expected to work.

When used as a cache, it would be an overkill to use the disks (or any other persistent storage) to help achieve High Scalability, High Availability, Cross Data Center replication, Querying and Indexing capabilities. I would be optimum to use a NoSql database that is strictly in-memory, no disk drive or flash drive or any other persistent storage, but also provide the above enriching features.

Such a database would be fast and cheap for read heavy use cases, for example travel/airline booking applications. You can store the data on a Diskless NoSql Database so that the customers can have a good experience using the booking application which would be fast and highly responsive.
