Abstract

Although the building blocks and technology have been demonstrable for 30+ years, there has been immense interest in autonomous mobility in past 3-5 years. All major car manufacturers have committed to delivering a level 5 autonomous vehicle by 2021. We will review the role played by sensing technologies and machine learning in making this a reality

Faisal is an innovative, dynamic, and inspirational executive and entrepreneur with extensive leadership experience in building global organizations, delivering innovative products, driving growth, improving efficiencies and gaining market share, both in fast pace startup environment and Fortune 500 companies. Currently he is VP Technology at GlobalLogic leading Global Cloud Practice organization and responsible for providing thought leadership and technical excellence in areas of public/private/hybrid clouds, DevOps, Containers, SDN/NFV and Cloud Security. Previously he was VP of Engineering at PLUMgrid (Acquired by VMware) where he led a diverse global engineering organization and established a market leadership position in SDN for OpenStack Clouds and Containers. Prior to PLUMgrid, Faisal was the Vice President of Mobile Video Product Line at Allot Communications where he led the US R&D center for intelligent traffic optimization and monetization solutions for fixed and wireless operators. Faisal came to Allot through the acquisition of Ortiva Wireless, where he was the VP of Engineering leading development, design and delivery of best-in-class proactive video optimization solutions. Previously, Faisal was a founding member of Wichorus (Acquired by Tellabs) taking the company from inception to a market leadership position in Smart Core infrastructure products for 4G networks. Faisal began his career at Cisco Systems where he designed and developed several routing/switching product families. He is advisor to several startups in the areas of robotics, drones and autonomous mobility. He received an MSEE from Purdue University and an MBA from Santa Clara University. He holds 8 patents in the areas of networking, including control plane, data plane, load balancing and video delivery.
