Topic

Applying Machine Learning to IT Management and Operations

Abstract

As the IT community adopts more scale-out applications consisting of containerized services, operations teams are feeling more pressure in achieving quality without excessive spending on infrastructure. The traditional manual testing and expert knowledge driven approach to capacity planning, resource provisioning, online monitoring, troubleshooting, and problem resolution can no longer meet the scale and speed requirements of new IT infrastructure and applications. Big data platforms and machine learning based techniques offer a powerful new tool chain for collecting, processing, and correlating a large amount of operations data, and by extracting pattens and building models, we can build new IT operations management and automation systems that are more efficient, less error-prone, and can lead to better Quality-of-Service for a variety of modern applications and services.
