From vision to reality – Artificial Intelligence in the Enterprise

Digital transformation is progressing from a “mobile first” to an “AI first” world and not a day passes without exciting news from AI researchers in academia and the prime internet players. Is this all hype or does it have real applicability in a complex enterprise environment? This talk will show how Prudential, one of the world’s oldest and largest insurance and wealth management companies, has made AI a reality in its business operations and in its customer engagement. We will cover some of the principles as well as the realities of putting AI into practice and demonstrate its use in real-world business examples. Most importantly, we will show how AI innovates not just business processes but also business models.

Michael is the Global Head of AI in the Group Digital team of Prudential plc. He joined Prudential from Silicon Valley based Pivotal Labs where he led the Data Science team. His experience lies in the application of artificial intelligence methods to large-scale, multi-structured data sets, in particular neural network based deep learning techniques. Michael previously founded and sold a ‘Silicon Roundabout’ based startup and prior to that was a partner at a major consulting firm. Michael holds a PhD in theoretical physics from the University of Cambridge and is a Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society.
