Abstract

Kafka is today used by over 35% of fortune 500 companies including social media, finance, manufacturing, & services industry due to its highly scalable, available and reliable distributed features.With the rapid adoption, it becomes crucial to ensure the Kafka deployment is secured. Most of the Kafka deployments deal with processing sensitive data like user information, financial data, Intellectual property, user location information, Personal or Identifying information etc. This presentation will cover various aspects of security for a Kafka cluster. Topics include IAM, Data Protection, Cybersecurity, and reference architecture for apps leveraging Kafka.

Ajit is the Chief Security Architect at VISA, the worlds largest payment network, which processed $4.5 trillion last year. Areas of expertise include data security, cryptography, and mobile security. He held other senior roles at various tech and financial firms before that role including founding two startups. He is an active participant in various open source and security architecture standards bodies.
