Proprietary Data and AI Metrics: The State of AI Investing in 2019

Abstract

One of the biggest challenges for AI startups is gaining a foothold in a market dominated by big tech. In this talk, Jeremy Kaufmann, Principal at Scale Venture Partners, will draw on examples from companies he has seen across a variety of AI vertical industries — including radiology, legal technology, business translation, voice ordering, and chatbots — to share strategies that vertical AI startups can deploy in order to create a proprietary data advantage that helps them compete against the large cloud vendors. He will also walk through key metrics that AI startups should highlight when pitching to investors, including ROI data, self-service resolution/ containment, and metrics showing the rate at which the accuracy of the algorithm is improving over time.
