Keeping up with the news: Tips and Tricks

In the current decentralized news landscape, keeping up has become very challenging: seemingly bombshell stories come out hourly and overwhelm the reader, while slow-burning topics such as environmental regulation, local elections, or best practices in deep learning are much harder to keep track of. The data (i.e. news stories) are abundant and relatively easy to obtain; keeping it all organized is hard. At Marvelous AI, we are creating personalized tools for tracking trustworthy news covering a range of perspectives, along with semi-automatically curated daily corpora of news stories. In this talk, we will share some of the challenges we’ve encountered, along with NLP techniques we’re finding useful for the task.
