We feature speakers at Global Predictive Analytics Conference - April 2 - 4 2018 - Santaclara - CA to catch up and find out what he or she is working on now and what's coming next. This week we're talking to Chet Gladkowski (Founder, GAPro) Topic - "Predictive Analytics And Insurance - Now You See It, Now You Don't"

Interview with Chet Gladkowski

1. Tell us about yourself and your background.

Been in the Insurance/IT arena since 1972 which means I’ve been doing this longer than most of you have been alive. Having served as a CIO, Sr. Director of Research and Development and VP of Sales gives me a very diverse background, for which I am so thankful. I have a three-sided head; Side 1 – insurance, Side 2 – technology, Side 3 – a quirky way of communicating. I’m also a foodie, I cook dinner for Mary Ann (my wife for 42 years) and myself almost every night; we rarely go out to eat.Click here to reach my LinkedIn profile.

2.  What have you been working on recently?

Identifying and building use cases to fully automate insurance Verification-as-a-Service, VaaS. By connecting all insurance stakeholders, insurance companies, brokers/agents, insureds and third parties (banks, contractors, trucking, transportation, agriculture, etc.) we’ve been able to demonstrate significant benefit to all stakeholders.

3. Tell me about the right tool you used recently to solve customer problem?

Within the insurance space, the same kind of policy will be somewhat-to-wildly different from other companies and there are no meaningful data standards. So collecting and normalizing data is a tremendous challenge, not to mention distributing that data to stakeholders throughout the insurance information ecosystem is fraught with privacy and security issues. To address these and other challenges, we employ KnowledgeKube from Mercato. KnowledgeKube is a low-code, rapid enterprise, cross platform development and deployment solution that empowers us to solve global complex problems in an ever-changing business and technology environment.

4. Where are we now today in terms of the state of Predictive Analytics, and where do you think we’ll go over the next five years?

Predictive analytics today is moving beyond the “I Don’t Know2” phase into a gathering tsunami of startups, thoughts, ideas, consultants and potential hype while people are just getting their toes in the water. Within the next five years we will see emerging clarity as the waters settle. Within the insurance industry, we’ll see application in claims, fraud and service with policy and underwriting lagging behind.

5. You’ve already hired Y number of people approximately. What would be your pitch to folks out there to join your Organization? Why does your organization matter in the world?

Our tagline, “Rewiring the Insurance Industry” says it all. We are on a quest to fundamentally change the way insurance information is exchanged between stakeholders. We estimate this to be a $62 billion annual problem in the US alone. And this exact same problem exists in for insurance policy and marketplace around the world.

6. What are some of the best takeaways that the attendees can have from your talk?

Insurance is a totally data driven industry, so you want to stomp down on the accelerator with Predictive Analytics. However insurance is highly, or should I say wildly regulated, slamming on the breaks when it comes to Predictive Analytics. You need an approach that is rational, useful and durable.

7. What are the top 5 Predictive Analytics Use cases in enterprises?

Within the insurance industry, here are the top 5 Predictive Analytics use case opportunities;

Customer Segmentation, Lifetime Value and Churn

Campaign Social Media Analytics (SMA) Response

Life Stage Segment and Buying Propensity

             Insurance Policy Recommendation

Fraud and Subrogation Potential, Detection, Settlement

8. Which company do you think is winning the global Predictive Analytics race?

At this point in time, a number of large insurance carriers are experimenting with Predictive Analytics, but they are not necessarily the winners. The winners will be those organizations that aggressively and systemically leverage data and technology while providing personalized products and services, going way beyond the current mania of mail merge marketing memos.
