Interview with Bryan Bell, Executive Vice President, Expert System - Speaker at Global Data Science Conference - Oct - 2017 Posted on : Sep 25 - 2017

We feature speakers at Global Data Science Conference - Oct - 16 - 18 2017 - Boston - MA to catch up and find out what he or she is working on now and what's coming next. This week we're talking to Bryan Bell, Executive Vice President, Expert System (Topic : Cognitive Computing: Combining Linguistic Analysis With Semantics To Automatically Deliver Contextually Correct Metadata At The Enterprise Level)

Interview with Bryan Bell

1. Tell us about yourself and your background.

I am currently an EVP with Expert System. I was hired in the summer of 2010 to help expand their business to the US. During my tenure, I have held several roles within the organization. My current focus is working within the Banking and Financial Services vertical to apply AI and Cognitive Computing technology to some of their most pressing business challenges.

2.  What have you been working on recently?

I have been working with several organizations to deploy an AI / cognitive computing content analysis layer for their KM initiatives. Use Cases include an automated metadata service that adds contextually correct metadata to unstructured content, Customer Support deployments, and AI for Investment Research & OSINT Analysis, Compliance & Anti-Money Laundering and a Financial Services Content Portal.

3. Tell me about the right tool you used recently to solve customer problem?

The tool is called Cogito. It is an advanced technology platform that combines a rich language knowledge graph, with linguistics, semantics and some machine learning to successfully understand word usage as it automatically analyzes unstructured content.

4. What are some of the best takeaways that the attendees can have from your "Cognitive Computing: Combining Linguistic Analysis with Semantics to Automatically Deliver Contextually Correct Metadata at the Enterprise Level " talk?

Understanding what people are describing, when mentioning artificial intelligence or cognitive computing or semantics is often confusing. It is difficult to know what it is or is not, and if it is the same or different than another solution. During my presentation, I will try to differentiate and demonstrate what makes cognitive computing work and a good solution for a large cross-section of companies and KM initiatives.

5. Any closing remarks

I look forward to delivering my presentation and attending many others. This Conference provides a fantastic learning opportunity for all of us.
