Data Science: Commercial options for biotech in rare diseases

Abstract

Compared to therapy areas where patients have multiple treatment options for improving their quality of life (i.e Diabetes, HIV, MS, etc.), the rare disease space faces more challenges in reaching the right physicians (with rare disease patients). Most of those challenges are related to education at the physician, patient and payer levels, as well as industry-related development (diagnosis awareness and standardization), among others. In my presentation, I will demonstrate that those challenges are not necessarily a liability but can actually be turned to an advantage with the creation of a uniquely effective commercial organization able to put the patient at the center while successfully reaching the right physicians, and helping them to diagnose and treat in a timely manner and before adverse events occur.
