Seven Criteria for Selecting the Right Blockchain Solutions

Abstract

Blockchain technology is continuing gaining momentum. In the first 6 months of 2018, there have been over 1,750 blockchain applications launched on Ethereum public network alone, thousands more have been deployed on private blockchain networks. All hypes aside, how to follow the correct procedures to select the right blockchain solutions has been a big challenge, particularly since there is no industry standard or even generally accepted guideline. As a leading expert of blockchain technology, the presenter will present the 7 criteria that he has developed based on his experience in designing, developing, and deploying blockchain solutions. The presenter will also share with the audience tips to avoid costly mistakes including if blockchain is the right solution or not, and which blockchain platform is the best to meet the business needs.

Profile

Feng Hou serves as the Chief Information Officer and Chief Digital Learning Officer at Central New Mexico Community College (CNM). He oversees the provision of Office of Digital Strategies, IT Operations, and CNM Online College. He has previously served in the CIO role, as well as other Senior IT Executive roles for more than 20 years in both public and private higher education institutions. As the Co-founder of Albuquerque Blockchain Alliance (ABA), Hou serves on the national reviewing board for the Blockchain Certificate Exam, is a member of the National Government Blockchain Chamber Albuquerque Chapter, and also serves on the Board of Directors for The New Mexico Council for Higher Education Computing/Communication Services (CHECS) and Board of Directors for New Mexico Technology Council.
