Topic

AI for curing aging-related diseases

Abstract

Nina Khera will be talking about senescent cells and their eradication. She will discuss aging-related diseases, such as dementia, Parkinson’s and more, and how the accumulation of senescent cells can speed up the onset of these diseases. She will additionally discuss old and new methods to eradicate them. She will discuss her project that is taking fluorescence microscopy pictures of the mitochondria of senescent and proliferating cells and running it through a convolutional neural network. Afterward, she will look at compounds suited to the phenotypes she has found and start clinical trials to put drugs that can treat senescent cells on the market.
